My last week in Sardinia was extremely busy. I had a ton of work I needed to get done for class and our schedule was booked with excursions as we tried to get the most out of our last days.

On Wednesday we went on an all-day sailboat cruise around Villasimius. Due to the size of our group we had to take two boats. One was a regular big boat for sailing–the kind you’d see at a typical yacht club–and the other was an old-timey two-masted boat. They never ended up putting the sails up on either of these boats–I guess because there wasn’t enough wind but I also think it was just easier on the crew to motor around than to sail.

We stopped at a couple locations to swim/snorkel. There were a ton of fish around and they came straight up to the boat. At the first location there was a statue underwater that had been placed there in honor of people who had died in ship wrecks. We were able to see it while snorkeling.

The day was pretty chill. We had lunch on the boat. We did a bunch of swimming and had fun jumping off the bow of this old-timey boat, which was like a 10 foot drop. I very much enjoyed seeing the fish while snorkeling.

On Thursday evening we went on a sunset kayaking tour. I honestly didn’t love this activity because it was pretty windy so it was hard to paddle and I got tired very quickly. Everyone else was a lot faster than I thought they would be and it was hard to keep up. There were big waves and most people said they didn’t like the waves but the waves were my favorite part. I’ve never been kayaking in big waves. We watched the sunset and I thought it wasn’t that great. It was a sunset over land. As soon as we got back to shore I booked it to the bus because I had a lot of work I needed to do.

These activities were Wednesday and Thursday and our final project was due Friday so we spent the evening and morning scrambling to finish it. We presented a power point that people were working on up to the minute we had to present. It turned out ok, I guess.

On Friday night we had a group dinner and I had a horse steak. It’s normal here to eat horse and I was given the option of horse or beef and I tried the horse. It tasted pretty much just like beef but a little bit tougher so I don’t think I’ll be eating it again but I’m glad I tried it. This dinner was another very long Italian meal and they brought out the steak like 2.5 hours in so I barely had any room left in my stomach and I didn’t eat much of it. Don’t worry–I got it to go and ate it for lunch the next day.

Friday was our last full night in Sardinia and a bunch of people wanted to go to dance clubs that were near the beach, which is a 40 minute bus ride away. Our dinner went until about 11:30 and the bus stops running at midnight so they went to the beach and stayed their until 6 am to get the bus back. Couldn’t be me. Instead of doing this, my friend Pranali and I went to the only club in town, which is pretty small. Not many people were dancing and we were told by the staff that we had to buy drinks to be allowed to dance, which we hadn’t because neither of us drink so we just left.

I spent my last full day in Cagliari doing a lot of last minute souvenir shopping. I got one last bubble tea. We visited the cat cafe one more time.

Cat cafe cat. One of the girls who came with me to the cat cafe had just bought something and that cat came a sat on it like a pillow which was really cute.

Saw this guy in a pharmacy window while shopping on the last day.

Saw this one earlier in the week but needed to include it somewhere in this post.

In the evening everyone got dressed up and we had our last dinner together. The next day I flew to Rome and that’s where I am as I write this post. So yeah this is my last post about Sardinia. I can already feel myself missing Sardinia because Rome is so crowded with tourists. Stayed tuned to hear about my adventures on the mainland!
